North Sea Challenges Drives Cavitas Energy’s Global Expansion

Cavitas Global Operations

Rising challenges within the North Sea has pushed Cavitas to expand operations overseas, establishing our footprint in the Middle East, US and other regions in search of stable markets and opportunities.

Our THOR technology is a low-carbon, targeted downhole heating solution, originally crafted to solve oil production challenges in the UK Bentley field. Designed as a more sustainable alternative to traditional methods, directly heating the reservoir without requiring carbon-intensive surface systems.

2024, has seen global success, as THOR has demonstrated efficiency in the States, increasing oil production by up to 6.5 times and reduced carbon emissions by 95% compared to steamflood – a necessity goal due to State CalGEM’s carbon regulations. Elsewhere Stateside, THOR successfully heated ultra-viscous oil (6 API), achieving 60 barrels per day - exceeding the operator’s target by 50%.

THOR’s deployment is spreading quickly, the technology has also been implemented in the Middle East to meet unique client challenges. THOR’s reliability was validated over an 18-month deployment, showcasing doubling production. In Asia, THOR’s slimline rigless version will be deployed to tackle wax build-up without the high costs and emissions of rig-based solutions.

Unfortunately, North Sea legislation pressures look determined to continue, so Cavitas is set to further internationalise with over 75 deployments upcoming in the US, Caribbean, Middle East, South America, Africa and Asia over the next 18 months. Continual investment and development into THOR solutions, allowing us to further scale our global operations and meet demand for more efficient, low-carbon oil extraction solutions across the globe.
