GB Energy to Establish Base in Aberdeen. Cavitas Celebrates THOR’s Carbon-Reducing Capabilities

GB Energy Green

Aberdeen, the hometown of Cavitas, is set to welcome GB Energy, the government’s clean energy firm to boost the Scottish city. Keir Starmer, UK prime minister made the anticipated announcement on Tuesday, as our industry and consumers are a step closer to understanding the UK’s energy future. As this energy giant prepares to set up operations in our city, here at Cavitas we are celebrating the remarkable carbon-reducing potential of our cutting-edge technology, THOR.

THOR offers significant environmental benefits across multiple sectors:

  • Oil: THOR can reduce emissions by up to 95% compared to traditional thermal injection, achieving just 1.51 gCO2/MJ.
  • Gas: THOR can help revive shut-in natural gas wells, potentially extending well life by over six years, cutting emissions associated with new drilling.
  • Hydrogen: THOR enhances chemical reactions downhole, improving hydrogen extraction from older wells—a crucial step in developing clean fuel sources.
  • Geothermal: THOR boosts low-enthalpy geothermal systems to power-generating steam temperatures, opening up opportunities for over 3,000 viable onshore wells in the UK alone.
