Cavitas Energy Launches Reservoir Simulation Service With Rock Flow Dynamics
Cavitas Energy, international enhanced oil recovery specialist, has announced that bespoke reservoir modelling will be the latest addition to their current portfolio of services. Working in partnership with Rock Flow Dynamics (RFD), the developers of subsurface analysis technology tNavigator®, Cavitas will spearhead small and large scale reservoir modelling of Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) techniques and their effects on heavy or conventional oil fields.
Throughout the development of the THOR (Thermal Heavy Oil Recovery) Technology, Cavitas has undertaken a number of reservoir modelling projects for international heavy oil operating companies. This experience has placed Cavitas at the forefront of creating enhanced oil recovery solutions in unconventional plays.
Managing Director Steve Johnstone comments: “Our recent experience shows that an increase of up-to 16% of recoverable reserve can be achieved through the application of our technologies. Having completed many reservoir modelling exercises for clients during large scale projects, Cavitas had seen an increased demand for this support and partnering with RFD allowed for an unrivalled service offering which enhances the results for our clients”.
The collaboration between Rock Flow Dynamics and Cavitas will utilise tNavigator®, the latest in dynamic reservoir simulation software, to extract live or representative geological data to build and run simulation scenarios. Results will highlight the effects on production from EOR techniques such as Thermal, Chemical, CO2, Polymer, Miscible Gas and many more.
RFD’s Director Scott Harrison said: “tNavigator® is the first subsurface software on the market which combines an interactive 3D graphical user interface and fully parallel supercomputing engine, to offer users unrivalled speed and scalability for their projects inside one integrated platform. Recognising Cavitas’ capabilities from previously conducted projects, we saw the benefit of merging our core business skills to provide the latest reservoir simulation technology with pioneering EOR field instrumentation. It is a pleasure to be working with the team at Cavitas as we continue supporting client requirements”.
The service provides operators with detailed EOR based reservoir modelling, supporting decision making for undeveloped heavy oil fields. Simulations aim to provide heavy oil operating companies with additional resources where they would otherwise remain untapped.
With global resources of heavy oil being suggested as more than twice those of conventional light crude oil, Cavitas continue to invest heavily in targeted EOR research and development to deliver innovative solutions and technology to the global market.
